Come with me for day 3 of a free cleaning in Louisville, Kentucky. At this point, it was just the two of us again, and after day 2, we realized we were going to need a little more than a mop to tackle these floors. So we got ourselves a shop vac and came back ready to try again. There was so much build up on these floors, and we were also dealing with dog urine that had seeped into the flooring. So honestly, this became a lot of trial and error. We tried different cleaners, different scrub brushes, razors, pretty much anything we could think of to figure out what was going to work. And every time we thought we had found something that was helping, we'd find another area that needed even more work. But we kept going. And of course, because apparently we already hadn't been through enough yet, I managed to spill the shop vac all over my shoe and the floor. So that was fun, but we managed to clean it up and got right back to work. We were both honestly starting to feel pretty defeated at this point. We knew this was no longer going to be a 3-day job, and there was still so much left to do. But even on the hard days, there are still going to be things you can do to make someone's day better. So before we called it a day, here at the end you'll see the clip of me going to Dollar Tree and picking up some things for the dog. And seeing her happy and well-fed and taken care of was a good reminder that this wasn't just about getting a dirty floor clean. We were there to help a person, and that meant helping however we could. And even though we weren't finished, at the end you can see the difference we made at least in the living room. These kinds of cleans don't always go smoothly, and they definitely don't always go according to plan. Sometimes you run into things you weren't expecting, sometimes the work takes twice as long, and sometimes you get tired and wonder if you're even making a difference. But when you know you're in there for the right reasons, you keep showing up. You adjust, you try something different, you take it one step at a time, and you keep pushing forward. Because sometimes the biggest progress comes from simply refusing to give up. And that's exactly what we did. What was supposed to be a 3-day clean ended up taking us 6 days. And I'll be honest, because I was doing this day by day, my motivation to keep pulling out my phone and recording started to disappear. So part 4 is going to look a little different, but I still wanted you guys to see how this all ended. Because even when things don't go according to plan, progress is still progress, and we weren't going to give up. Stay tuned for part 4, aka day 4, 5, and 6.
