I am exempt from all window tint on my car, which means if any cop pulls me over and they try to give me a tint ticket, they legally cannot because my doctor signed off on it. So let's talk about how I got it and how you can possibly get it too, because who really wants to drive a fishbowl? Common misconception, and if anybody ever tells you this, just know that they are lying because it's very, very illegal if their doctor ever does this. You cannot go to your regular physician, aka somebody who gives you your yearly physical, and have them sign off on any sort of window tint. They are not legally allowed, they can lose their doctorate, they can lose their license, they can literally go to jail. The only person that can sign a window tint exemption form is your ophthalmologist, which is your eye doctor. So if anybody ever tells you, hey, I went to my regular doctor and I told them I had light sensitivity and they signed a form, no, they fucking didn't. And if they did, I don't know what's going on with that, but that's just super illegal. So don't even trust that, because even if you tried to take that to court, your doctor is going to jail and so are you. Just make an average everyday appointment with your ophthalmologist, find an ophthalmologist, however you want to go about it, an eye doctor, and tell them that you want, you know, an eye exam of everything, so that way you have something on record to see exactly what your vision is and what's going on with your eyes. Only during that appointment can you bring up window tint exemption and they can tell you whether or not you meet the qualifications. Certain things that meet the qualifications are people that have cataracts, people that are on seizure medication and need window tint in order to not have a seizure, somebody who has floaters in their eyes, somebody who is blind in one eye but has vision in the other eye and can legally operate a vehicle with it. You know, just different various things. And whatever the condition is, just know that you cannot go into your eye doctor and lie about having something that you do not have. It's not like going to your regular doctor and telling them that you've been throwing up for the past three days and you want a doctor's note so you can get out of going to work. They legally have to do some eye exams in order to see if you meet the qualifications and if you don't, then you're just, you're screwed. So let's just say that you do. This is the form that they will fill out. You fill out three parts of it, obviously, they fill out the other part, they say exactly what type of exemption you have, for how long you have the exemption, and then, you know, moving forward what the exemption is and all the sorts of things that you need in order for them to sign. Like it's just, it's pretty self-explanatory and it's not really difficult for them to figure out whether or not you need it or not. I have 2400 in my left eye and I have 2025 in my right eye, which means I have lifetime exemption or as long as I have my license, just whichever one comes first basically. However, every five years I still have to go in and they still have to do an eye exam to make sure that my right eye is still at the legal limit that it needs to be in order to drive a car. That legal limit in most states, if not all states, is 2040 in one eye and you have to have that with correction, aka with a prescription, with contacts or just on its own, it has to be 2040 and I meet the criteria right now, but who knows, you know, the next 10 years I may not. So every five years they have to go in and check my eyes, make sure I'm still good enough to drive a car. So now you have the exemption form from your ophthalmologist, that is not the only thing that you have to do. You now have to mail it in. You can't just take it to your DMV and say, hey, I want you to put this on record. You have to mail it in to a specific DMV. Your doctor will tell you, you can also look it up online. Mine basically said a larger city that's in my state and they will mail me a little tiny sticker that I put in my window that says, hey, I am exempt and then it'll also now go in DMV records. So that way if I were to ever get pulled over, you politely tell the officer and then the officer sees that you have window tint exemption and they let you go. It's pretty self-explanatory. The only other time you can actually get a legal tint ticket from an officer is if you didn't meet the threshold, if you've gone six years instead of five years instead without seeing your doctor, they can now give you a tint ticket because your exemption is no longer active. So just keep that in mind, go see your doctor when your doctor says you have to be back in order to keep it active and you should be good, you'll be vibing, you can get have whatever window tint you want on your fucking car and it's great, you're not driving a fishbowl and you can actually enjoy the way your car looks. Hopefully that clears up any misconceptions from somebody who has the legal tint exemption. Y'all, it's not that difficult, it's not that serious, just go and actually have your eyes checked. If you don't meet it, you don't meet it. Also, don't do anything to try and meet the tint exemption. Don't go stab yourself in the eye, that's unhealthy and I think you need to see a different doctor if you try to do that. So, yeah. Hope you guys have an amazing day, I love you guys so much and bye bitches.
