Okay, so before I say anything, let's watch this video together. I genuinely smiled watching this video. Like, what a wonderful family, intentional man, beautiful wife, they just had the baby, beautiful moment, until I opened the comment section and it went from the beautiful moment into an unexpected conversation. Why is he giving her pampers as push gifts? Why is he giving her gifts that are going to be beneficial for the baby and not the mother? Why is she saying thank you for bare minimum? Is it not his responsibility to take care of his kids? First of all, in real life, in real life, when we visit a new mom, what do we go with? We go with things like pampers, powder, baby clothes, money, things that will be beneficial for both the mother and the baby. So why has it suddenly become an insult because our husband included those things in the surprise for her? From the video, you can see the woman was happy, she felt loved, she appreciated the thought and effort the husband put into making that moment feel special. But strangers on TikTok were trying to convince the woman that she should not be happy. This brings me to something I see on social media all the time. Every time a woman appreciates her husband for taking care of their children, people will say, "Eh, why are you thanking him? Is it not his responsibility?" Yes, it is his responsibility, but responsibility does not cancel appreciation, because what if he decides to be irresponsible? A person can be doing exactly what they are supposed to do and you can still appreciate them for doing it. Because imagine if a man also says, "Eh, a woman's body is designed to carry pregnancy, her body is designed to birth a child, so why should we be thanking them? Why should we be giving them push gifts? Is it not their child?" That sounds ridiculous, right? Even if a woman's body is designed in such a way that we can give birth to a baby, it still requires a lot of pain, sacrifice, and life-risking procedures. Even if a man is expected to provide for his family, it still requires effort, sacrifice, and intentionality. So my saying thank you does not make them extraordinary responsibilities, it simply means I see your effort. And I think this bare minimum culture is becoming too dangerous, because we are no longer using it to hold people accountable, we are now using it to belittle every good thing people do. And the moment one nonsense, meaningless comment starts getting hundred of likes, everybody wants to join the band wagon because nobody wants to look like pick me or look like they are accepting less. But please, dear married men, dear married women, don't let social media teach you to be ungrateful in your home. If your partner does something that makes you genuinely happy, appreciate them. If your husband is a responsible father, appreciate him. If your wife does something thoughtful for the family, appreciate her. Don't let them tell you on social media, oh, if it is me, I will smash it on him, if it is me, I will not accept it, if it is me, I will not say thank you. Gratitude does not reduce your standard and appreciation does not make you a pick me. I hope you understand, I'll see you on my next videos.
