Control Resonant launched yesterday, and one of the most unexpected stories around it is coming from Reddit. Despite a leaked copy of the game circulating online ahead of launch, a significant portion of the piracy community has been openly urging others not to download it and to buy the game instead. The reasoning centres on Remedy's precarious financial situation - Control Resonant is self-published, meaning Remedy receives sales revenue directly rather than royalties after a publisher recoups costs, as was the case with Alan Wake 2. FBC: Firebreak underperformed in 2025, and the studio has said Resonant needs to sell between 3 and 4 million copies to break even on its €50 million budget. Users across piracy subreddits have been calling it one of the few games worth paying for, with one posting that they wanted to help keep Remedy financially healthy. The game launched to critical acclaim and has hit the top of Steam's global top sellers chart. Sometimes goodwill is worth more than a crack. #controlgame #controlresonant #remedyentertainment #steamgames #gamingnews
