Homeschool kids who enroll in public schools are ALWAYS behind. 🙄 But what about the second grader that came into my class this year who has been homeschooled and is so far behind? Y'all, come on. The second grader that is now enrolled in your classroom is coming from a homeschool family that decided homeschooling's not working for them. They aren't making the progress, or they aren't able to put in the time or the energy or the resources, or whatever it is. And so they have now opted into public school. For the families that homeschool is working, where we are making progress, we are succeeding, we're thriving, we're happy, we're enjoying the whole the whole thing has working out great. Those kids aren't enrolling in your classrooms, y'all. Trying to make up that ground is a bummer. But there are also plenty of kids who transfer in from other public school districts who you will also find to be behind. Kids within your own building who attended kinder and first and end up in your second grade classroom who are also behind. And that are falling behind in all educational models. Failing homeschool, that happens, of course. I mean, are you telling me that every other second grader in that classroom besides that homeschool kid that came in this year, they're all on track or are ahead? Statistics say that's not the case. So, y'all.
