BREAKING: A powerful nor’easter is hammering the Northeast today, September 26, bringing heavy rain, powerful winds and dangerous coastal conditions from the Mid-Atlantic into New England. The massive storm is moving slowly, allowing wind and rain to pound the region for hours instead of quickly moving out. Wind gusts could reach 40–55 mph in parts of New York and Connecticut, strong enough to bring down tree limbs and cause scattered power outages. Coastal communities are also facing dangerous flooding, huge waves and severe beach erosion as the storm combines with unusually high tides. And this one isn't leaving quickly. Rain and strong winds are expected to continue through tonight and into Sunday, with some areas receiving several inches of rain before the system finally begins to weaken. If you're anywhere in the Northeast, secure anything outside, stay away from flooded roads and shorelines, and keep an eye on local weather alerts. This storm is still unfolding.
