A new era of passenger rail is arriving in Washington. Amtrak has unveiled its new next-generation Airo trains for the Amtrak Cascades route, bringing a redesigned passenger experience to the Pacific Northwest. Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson joined officials Saturday to mark the rollout of the new fleet, which will serve the Cascades corridor connecting Seattle with destinations including Portland, Eugene and Vancouver, B.C. The new trains feature panoramic windows, upgraded seating, onboard Wi-Fi, power and USB outlets, a redesigned café car and improved accessibility. Washington and Oregon will be the first states in the country where passengers can ride Amtrak’s new Airo trains, with regular passenger service beginning Sept. 30. The rollout represents one of the biggest upgrades to Amtrak Cascades service in years as the region continues investing in passenger rail between major Pacific Northwest cities. Video Credit - Gov.
