EP 2: Trying to find the BEST roast dinner in Hampshire 🙌 This week I headed to The Fox in Crawley, just outside Winchester, and here’s everything you need to know. 📍 Around 10 minutes from Winchester city centre 💰 Beef roast: £23 including all the trimmings First up, the roast potatoes. Honestly, some of the crispiest roasties I’ve had from a restaurant roast dinner. SO good. The homemade Yorkshire puddings were also spot on. Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and I loved the selection of veg. We had green beans, broccoli, beetroot and swede mash, which made a nice change from your standard roast veg. The beef was a little fatty for me, and I’d asked for it well done which unfortunately it wasn’t, but overall I’d still say this was a really banging roast dinner. The one thing that did let the experience down for me was the service. It was quite slow, a few things were forgotten and we weren’t asked how our food was. One person in our party also had to send a meal back because it wasn’t in line with the allergies they’d mentioned. I don’t always like posting when I haven’t had the best experience, but because I’m doing this series, I want my reviews to be honest and balanced. The roast itself was really nice, but for me, good service is just as important as good food. Hopefully our experience was a one-off and the feedback can be taken constructively.
