In honour of Nigeria's Independence Day today Here's a painting I made about our corrupt government

For this painting, I wanted to highlight the corrupt practices currently happening in Nigeria and how those in power take resources meant for the people and use them for their own gain. I grew up watching NTA News (Nigerian Television Authority), and there was always a headline about bad governance. I placed the person in power inside a TV box, eating from a bowl painted with the colours of the Nigerian flag. The figures on the left represent the people. Two of them are looking at the person eating, helpless to change their situation. One figure looks directly at the audience but has no mouth, symbolizing how those who try to speak up are silenced. Another figure wears the Nigerian coat of arms like merchandise, this coat of arms is supposed to represent a promise to the people, but those promises are not being fulfilled. The final figure has no face, only a question mark, representing future generations.
