It’s October 1st, y’all. We have THREE months left in this year. 🤎 And I really think more couples need to start having these kinds of conversations. Not just about the bills, the kids, what we’re eating for dinner, or what needs to get done around the house. I’m talking about sitting down and really discussing where you’re going in life. Individually AND together. What are some things you still want to accomplish before this year ends? What habits do you need to change? What have you been putting off? What are we working toward as a couple? And listen, it doesn’t have to be some super serious meeting at the kitchen table. 😂 Make it fun! Have a little date night at home. Order some food, pour your favorite drinks, put some music on, and make vision boards together. Or find a cute café, a quiet library, or somewhere you both enjoy going. Bring your notebooks, sit down, and just talk. You could even make it a tradition where once or twice a year, you go back to that same spot, look at what you’ve accomplished, and set some new goals. Maybe one of you wants to get healthier, go back to school, start a business, or become more disciplined with money. Maybe together you want to build your savings, pay something off, travel more, or just become better at making time for each other. Whatever it is, WRITE IT DOWN. Make a plan. Put some action behind it. And here’s the part people don’t always like… ACCOUNTABILITY. You can’t tell your person you want to accomplish something, ask them to support you, and then get upset every time they remind you of what YOU said you wanted. 😂 Now, there’s a difference between somebody supporting you and somebody constantly criticizing you. Your partner shouldn’t make you feel small. But having somebody who loves you enough to remind you of your own goals, encourage you when you’re getting discouraged, and give you that little push when you need it? That’s important. And it goes both ways. Don’t just expect them to push you. Be that same support system for them. One more thing… put those goals somewhere you BOTH have to see them every single day. On your bedroom wall, a vision board in your closet, on the refrigerator, wherever. Somewhere you can’t just write them down and forget about them two weeks later. Let it be that daily reminder of what you’re working toward and why you started. And check in with each other. Not just at the end of the year. Ask, “How are we doing? What’s working? What do we need to change? How can I help you get there?” Because being in a relationship isn’t just about loving somebody. It’s also about supporting the person they’re trying to become while continuing to work on yourself. I want us to be able to look back and say we didn’t just spend another year together… we actually grew together. Three months left. That’s still time to make some changes, build better habits, and finish this year with intention. So here’s my question for the couples: What’s ONE goal you and your person are committing to before the year ends? 👀🤎 #RelationshipGoals #HealthyRelationships #RelationshipTalk #intentionalliving #couplegoals
