Promoted product

heatless hair rods

Why it worked

The video uses a relatable 'POV' format and a humorous, authentic interaction between a couple to showcase the effectiveness of a beauty product in a native, non-intrusive way.

Summary

A creator asks her boyfriend to reveal the results of her heatless hair styling session. The video focuses on the effectiveness of the heatless rods in creating curls.

Structure

1Creator asks boyfriend to show hair results
2Boyfriend struggles with the heatless rods
3Creator expresses frustration about the rods
4Boyfriend reveals the curled hair
5Creator and boyfriend admire the final look

Product placement

Heatless hair rods (a hair styling tool) ACTS: the boyfriend is seen holding and operating the rods to style the creator's hair, and the creator explicitly discusses the rods and the result of using them. Removing the rods would change the entire premise of the video.

Oh my god, this is Emily's. What, baked in the bonnet? Oh my god, there's no bonnet. We're very close right now. Let me. What is on? No, wait. Nothing, apparently. Yeah, I'm ready. Oh my god, the rod. Oh my god, I thought you would ditch the rods. Help. All right, come on, chop chop. I don't know what I'm doing. Does it look like it's curled well? It's curled. It is, yeah. Yeah. Oh my god. Oh, wow. Is it good? It is gorgeous. Actually. It's gorgeous, I know. Really? Yeah.
