Which day of the week has the highest stock market returns? We analyzed 100 years of historical U.S. stock market data, from 1926 to 2026, to compare cumulative returns for every day of the week. Wednesday returned 10,631%, while Monday lost nearly 99%. But does that actually mean Wednesday is the best day to invest in stocks? The results reveal a surprising historical pattern, but there’s an important catch. Each weekday’s close-to-close market returns were compounded separately.
