This is a long video… because this is a long walk for them. Tonk and Macy are walking the trail all the way from the creek back to the car, and it takes them so much longer than it would take a “normal” dog. Not because they aren’t trying. Not because they aren’t strong. But because every step costs more. They stop. They rest. They breathe. Then they get up and take a few more steps. And I stay right there with them. I’m patient. I don’t rush them. I will wait as long as they need me to, because this is what their version of “getting back to the car” looks like. Slow. Intentional. Earned. Throughout the video I ask them if they want my help. I offer to carry them, because they know I will. They know the second I reach my arms out, I’m ready to scoop them up and make it easier. And every time… they get right back up. They choose to walk. They choose to keep going. They choose to push through, even when it’s hard. And they do it with smiles on their faces. That’s the part that breaks me open. Because people look at disabled dogs and assume their lives are small. That they’re limited. That they’re “less.” But what I see is heart. Determination. Trust. Two dogs who have had to work harder since day one, still choosing the path in front of them. This is why I show the whole walk. Not the highlight reel. Not the “fast version.” Because their miles look different. Their progress looks different. Their courage looks like resting, getting up, and trying again. And if you’ve ever needed proof that love is patience… it’s this. Me standing there, waiting, while they show me what they’re made of. 💚🐾 🍄🪴Holistically managing their present to better protect their future. 🐾 #DisabledDogs #SpecialNeedsDogs #SeniorDogLife #DogMomLife #NatureTherapy
