All the different azelaic acids I've tried as a skin specialist and an acne specialist, why I love them, if I would recommend them, and let's dive into them. I can honestly say that azelaic acid has been like one of the best things I've brought into my routine. I just feel like it's anti-inflammatory, it's antibacterial, it works so well on both types of acne, which I also suffer with and it works so well for so many of my clients as well. I'm going to start off with the Anua one because this has definitely had a little bit of controversy on the internet recently. And I can see why. This is the first ever azelaic acid that I did buy and bring into my routine. This is azelaic acid at 10% with a hyaluronic acid in it. Now I would say this is more hydrating than anything, obviously because it's got the hyaluronic acid in there, but that's kind of not what I needed it to do. I needed it to like work. And I'm not going to lie, didn't really see a difference with this. Wouldn't recommend it again. Would I recommend it to maybe a sensitive skin that is like super, super, super keen to start azelaic acid but like has a really sensitive or sensitized skin? Maybe. But as someone who wants to get into azelaic acid, you've got acne, like nah. I can have a separate hyaluronic acid and a stronger azelaic acid. Thank you very much. This one by La Roche-Posay, as you can see, it's completely empty. I was so impressed with this. This has also got azelaic acid and salicylic acid in it as well. So it's got an AHA and a BHA, so it works two different types of ways on the skin. The azelaic acid is going to work really surface, but it's anti-inflammatory, whereas the BHA, your salicylic acid is going to go a lot deeper and help to dissolve the oil. I think this is incredible for anyone starting off with azelaic acid in their routine. I recommend it over and over again and clients come back every single time and say how effective it is. Now we're going to move on to the Finacea 15%. This is prescription strength azelaic acid and I have moved up to this because my skin has gotten so used to the cosmetic over-the-counter azelaic acids. I can now move on to something stronger. My skin has tolerated it so, so, so well. I flood my skin with hydration every single day. I do not let a day go by where I'm not focusing on hydration of my skin and that's why I think my skin can tolerate this so, so, so well. So if you are maybe new to azelaic acid and you've gone straight onto this, you are suffering with quite a lot of dryness, I would really focus on hydration and really focus on barrier care and see how much more effective it is. Because trust me when I say, hydrated skin is always going to perform and react better than dehydrated skin.
