Brown sugar garlic butter baked chicken. Juicy, well seasoned, and worth every step. Make some rice because you’re going to want every drop of this sauce! Save this recipe for your next dinner 🍽️ INGREDIENTS • 2½ to 3 lbs chicken with the bone in and skin on • 1 small onion, chopped • 1 green and 1 red bell pepper, chopped • ¼ cup Haitian epis, optional • 2 tbsp Trader Joe’s hot honey mustard • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce • 1 tsp each garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika • 1 to 2 tsp Dano’s Cajun seasoning, or to your preference • 1 to 2 tbsp olive oil • ¼ cup chicken broth BROWN SUGAR GARLIC BUTTER • 4 tbsp melted garlic butter, I use Sam’s Club • 1 tbsp brown sugar • 1 tsp jarred minced garlic • Pinch of cayenne • ¼ tsp chicken bouillon seasoning, optional I mostly season by eye, so these measurements are a starting point. Adjust to your preference! HOW TO MAKE IT 1. Pat chicken dry, then mix with the onion, peppers, epis, mustard, Worcestershire, and seasonings. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. I marinated mine for a few hours. 2. Preheat oven to 350°F. Heat olive oil in an oven safe skillet. Remove chicken from the marinade, leaving vegetables behind. Sear skin side down for 3 to 4 minutes, then flip and sear another 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from skillet. 3. Mix the garlic butter, brown sugar, minced garlic, cayenne, and bouillon. 4. Add the vegetables and remaining marinade to the skillet. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes. 5. Place chicken on top, skin side up. Spoon over the butter mixture and add the broth. 6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, baste with the pan juices, and bake uncovered for about 10 more minutes, or until every piece reaches 165°F in the thickest part, away from the bone. 7. Rest for 5 minutes and serve with rice and green beans. Don’t forget that sauce! Epis is a Haitian seasoning base with ingredients like peppers, garlic, herbs, and spices. I love using it, but you can make this without it! #BakedChicken #ChickenRecipe #DinnerIdeas #GarlicButterChicken #HomeCooking
