Sometimes, the best way to add value to your roster is by subtracting an individual. Talent can win games, but culture builds programs. As coaches, we have to recognize when one player’s attitude, effort, or unwillingness to buy into the team is costing more than their talent is contributing. One individual should never be bigger than the team. Sometimes, removing one player creates an opportunity for ten others to grow, lead, and thrive. A strong roster isn’t just about who you add.
