10 skincare habits (skincare routine and skin tips) that changed my skin - I wish I knew these sooner! 🧴✨ 1. That your diet can affect how your skin looks: Frequent intake of sugary drinks, sweets, pastries and highly refined carbohydrates may worsen acne in some people🫶. So your skincare products might not be the issue, but what you are eating. 2. I stopped picking, squeezing and touching every pimple on my face: A pimple will come and go but the dark spot that comes from picking the pimples comes and does not just go😭. Picking your pimples can increase inflammation and the risk of scarring and dark marks. Instead let blemishes heal, and use appropriate acne treatments. 3. I stopped believing burning meant a skincare product was working: Actually burning, swelling and persistent stinging are not proof that a product is effective❌. It means your skin barrier is either bad or that products in burning your skin and is not meant for you. Stop using a product that causes a significant reaction. 4. Using dirty pillowcases, dirty phone screens, dirty makeup brushes and dirty bed spreads will make you breakout😔. 5. I stopped thinking that more products meant faster results: I learnt the hard way when I started using tretinoin - you need a pea size for tretinoin not a handful. Introduce active ingredients gradually💕. Too many irritating products can damage your skin barrier and trigger more breakouts or pigmentation. 6. I stopped keeping dirty hair: most forehead breakouts are as a result of the dirty oils that comes from keeping a dirty hair for too long.👌 7. I stopped treating sunscreen like an optional product: I noticed that I was getting darker despite using the most expensive skincare products🌹. I did not think I had to use a sunscreen especially on less sunny days. I stopped and started using it everyday. 8. I started to prioritize barrier repair over exfoliating and using a lot of actives. 9. I stopped changing my routine every week and jumping on trends: Give your skincare products enough time to work, instead of using it for a week and conclude that they don’t work. Acne treatments often need around 6–8 weeks before improvement becomes noticeable, sometimes longer. 10. I stopped expecting skincare to compensate for every lifestyle habit I chose: habits like sleeping late and not getting enough rest. Know this: Poor sleep and stress can affect overall well-being and may worsen acne for some people. Sometimes stress is the reason behind that acne. #skincareroutine #glowingskin #skintips #skincareasmr #glassskin
