🚨 IF YOU USE AZELAIC ACID, PLEASE DON'T MAKE THESE MISTAKES! 👀🧴 Are you using azelaic acid for acne, dark spots, redness, inflammation or uneven skin tone but still confused about how to use it correctly? Let's clear things up! 💗✨ 🌹 HOW TO USE AZELAIC ACID CORRECTLY Here’s what you need to know:👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 🌺 1. Never apply Azelaic acid to damp or wet skin: not like it is bad but for your skin tolerability especially as a beginner you don’t want to use it on a wet skin. And this is why, when your skin is wet, the outer skin layer becomes more hydrated and Azelaic acid penetrates much faster and deeper into damp skin, which drastically increases stinging, burning, and itching. And you don’t want that. 🌺 2. Don’t rush into using Azelaic acid everyday: especially as a beginner, introduce it gradually according to your skin’s tolerance. Using it everyday can increase irritations and inflammation on your skin. Start by applying it 2 to 3 times a week, gradually building frequency over a few weeks as your skin tolerates it. 🌺 3. Azelaic acid is not a face cream, don’t apply more products thinking it will work faster: A pea size is all you need🫛, it would only cause more irritations when you use a lot of it. 🌺 4. Quitting too early due to mild tingling or slow results: I have had this tingling, did I stop using it no no I didn’t stop, I only just adjusted how I used it. A temporary tickling or itchy sensation during the first 1-2 weeks is a normal physiological response, not an allergic reaction. Azelaic acid is a long term player, it typically takes 8 to 12 weeks of consistent daily use to see significant improvement. 🌺 5. Using Azelaic acid only as a spot treatment is you underrating it and under using it: Azelaic acid works by regulating cell turnover, suppressing excess melanin production, and calming overall inflammation. Applying it only to active pimples misses its primary job, it helps to prevent future breakouts, fading dark spots, and reducing widespread redness. Apply a thin, even coat over the entire face. 🌺 6. Combining Azelaic acid with other strong actives: Strong retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid and other exfoliating ingredients can increase irritation when combined with azelaic acid wrongly. As a beginner use them in seperate routines. Use azelaic acid in the morning and other actives at night, or rotate them on alternate days of the week. 🌺 7. Skipping moisturizer (or buffering): Azelaic acid, especially prescription strengths (15% to 20%) can cause temporary dryness and irritation. If your skin is sensitive, apply moisturizer - allow it to sink in before adding your azelaic acid and then your moisturizer again (that is to sandwich the acid between two thin layers of moisturizer) to reduce irritation without blocking absorption. 🌺 8. Don't ever skip your sunscreen when using Azelaic acid:. Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ helps prevent dark spots from getting worse and prevents further sun-related pigmentation. Skipping SPF in the morning undoes the brightening and calming progress that azelaic acid works to achieve. 🌺 9. Anything else you are combining with Azelaic acid should be mild, your face cleanser should be gentle and non-stripping. Your toner and serums should not be alcohol based but hydrating to support your skin barrier while using this active. 📌 SAVE this post before your next azelaic acid application. #azelaicacid #skincareroutine #hyperpigmentation #glassskin #morningskincareroutine
