In honor of National Coming Out Day, something that made coming out smoother for me was when I told my aunt that I was probably gonna marry a woman and she said she would be more disappointed if I married a man. In this economy, right? When I told my friends that I was starting to date women like six years ago, I genuinely felt like they could care less. And literally the best possible way. I remember realizing when I was gay, I was afraid of the feeling that I would have to experience coming out to people in my life, how it would impact my friendships. I was so unbelievably blessed to have that response from the people in my life, but I also know that that's not the case for everybody. I can't imagine the people that you love the most not supporting you, not loving you through that process. So today is National Coming Out Day. I'm so excited to be partnering with the one and only eos, who is launching a $30,000 match campaign alongside The Trevor Project, which is the leading organization supporting and empowering LGBTQ+ young people. Link in my bio if you're able to donate. It is not lost on me how much easier it is for me to be gay in the US in comparison to some of the other places that I've been to. Is it perfect here? Absolutely not. But it is projects like this that are making the difference, not just here but also everywhere. Everybody deserves to live in their truest authenticity, love who they want, and be who they are.
