Well, I love to bring up the fact that Marie Antoinette's favorite color was brown, but it's not really brown. Puce is kind of purple, kind of pink, kind of red, kind of brown, because it's the color of dried flea blood. That was her favorite color. And honestly, it's a really pretty color. They did not kill a bunch of fleas in order to dye things for her this color. I'm sure they used natural dyes and didn't do that, but that is where the color comes from. People on the streets of France were covered in fleas and it stained their clothes with blood that would turn puce. How anyone got inspired to incorporate this into fashion, I'm not sure. But then I look at things like Magnolia Pearl, and actually, it doesn't seem that crazy when you think about it. Anyway, when people are arguing that Marie Antoinette's favorite color was actually brown, no, her favorite color was actually pink. Kind of both. In a way, it was kind of both.
