Here's some things you need to know if you buy a used laptop for back to school. First off, the first thing you should do is fully erase the hard drive. And I don't just mean format it. You should go to dban.org, download the ISO file, burn it to a USB drive. It's a program that fully rewrites every bit on your hard drive so you can be sure that there's nothing left over. Then boot the laptop to the USB and erase the hard drive. Next you want to go into the security section of your computer's BIOS and go to the anti-theft. And you're going to want to disable Computrace. That's some spooky stuff there. You can also make sure that all of the passwords are disabled in the BIOS. That way you're not being sold a device that maybe was stolen for example, and you can't actually access because it's password protected.
