Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
So there's a lot of things that Primerica agents do and believe in that I actually also agree with. However, I'm going to remain independent and here's why. So as a brand new Primerica agent, they're going to train you to be a financial advisor. They're going to help you get your series license so you can legally call yourself that. Then they're going to show you and your network how to buy term and invest the difference. This is a concept that I use, that I've used, that I actually agree with. And for those that are uninitiated or don't understand the whole buy term and invest the difference, let me kind of break it down. To break it down in its most general terms, a whole life policy is going to cost more than a term policy. So where you might spend $100 on a whole life policy, let's say that you get a term policy with a larger face amount, that policy might cost let's say $50, so half of that. The concept being, you spend $50 on getting this insurance right now and the other $50 that you would have saved instead of putting it in a whole life product, you'll take that 50 and you'll invest it, usually in a mutual fund, and that's important. But I know some of y'all will be like, it's not always a mutual fund. I get it. I get it. Nothing's wrong with that concept and now that you know how it works, one of the reasons I'm going to remain independent is because I deal with several carriers that are either very same price as Primerica's term or cheaper than Primerica's term. So if we're buying term and we're investing the difference, would you rather have somebody and invest more money or less money? Even though by and large a lot of the people who are supposed to be investing that difference don't, that's neither here nor there. Being independent affords me the ability to sign people up with more than one carrier and give them more than one option for this investment type of thing. A lot of people want to hate on IULs, a lot of people want to love IULs, but it's an ability that I have to give them more diversity with those types of things. Also, if we're buying term and investing the rest, if I'm only working with one company and one carrier, if they get declined, what am I going to do? Just get referrals? No, I can always get term that's still cheap from another carrier that may be a little bit more lenient. Because after all, if you can't sign someone up, there goes the deal, there goes all that nice cute buy term and invest the rest. But let me not forget to mention compensation. There's no way that I would ever start an agent off at 25%. Also, your comp shouldn't be based on recruiting. That's just my belief. That's just my belief. Out there, people are getting started at 90, 100%. Like I start my agents off at 90% at the lowest. And for those of you who are uninitiated, think of it this way. Would you rather get paid $25 an hour or $90 an hour? I'll wait. But y'all know I'm about the agent, so if y'all are new Primerica agents out there grinding, keep on pushing, you got this.
