Elon Musk's Peter Thiel, the billionaire founder of PayPal, waited 10 years to bankrupt a company that slated him. In 2007, Peter Thiel was at the top of his game. Exited PayPal and became a legend for writing the first investment check into Facebook for 10% of the company. That was until popular gossip website Gawker outed Peter Thiel as gay. Thiel thought this was a complete violation of his privacy and decided to do something about it. But in 2012, Gawker slipped up. They published a two minute clip of Hulk Hogan's sex tape. So Peter Thiel jumps on the opportunity, finances the lawsuit, the lawsuit bankrupts Gawker and Peter wins. But that isn't even the crazy part. We found out through the My First Million podcast when they discussed the book Conspiracy, which tells the story that the entire idea for the play came from some random 20 year old who wanted to impress Peter Thiel and get in his network.
