I did not come from New York society.

I did not come from New York society. I did not come from old family money. I did not go to some Ivy League school. I literally went to a state school in Indiana. But I've been here eight months now in New York City and I feel like I've done a pretty good job if I do say so myself of making myself feel at home in the city. And this is a city that makes a lot of people uncomfortable or timid because it is a city that will sometimes knock you down, but it's also a city that has opened the most doors in the world to me. So this is a new series. I'm starting officially actually called networking in New York because I want to let you know that it really doesn't matter. Um if you're coming to a city with connections or not, what matters is your mindset and your ability to make new connections. And in the past eight or so months, I've said yes to almost every single invitation and people ask me, how do you get invited to networking events. How do you go to different events from brands? And my answer is really just by putting yourself out there saying yes to things, and then getting those invitations, it's a snowball effect. If you prepare, if you put yourself in a situation where you're going to succeed, And then open your heart. I know it sounds silly, but open your heart to the rest of it. That is how you find success in a city. And one of my first weeks here, I remember being at an event and this guy was just through and through New York and he said, you know, the people who are true New Yorkers, they will respect that and they will welcome you because that's what the city's about.
