So as simply as possible
EMG or electromyography
is a method used to measure
the electrical signals produced by muscles
when you flex them
now in the context of
controlling bionic hands
EMG is used to capture
those signals and we then
use them to move the
hand
this is true for both
amputees and those born
with congenital limb
differences
so by placing electrodes
on the skin
we can detect those
signals and from them
understand the user's
intention to move their
hand or fingers
and that information is
then used to control the
prosthetic hand
allowing the user to
perform various
movements
such as grasping or
releasing objects
