Alright so I told you guys that I started a new job at a KYC company but it's time to tell you what the hell KYC really is. KYC stands for Know Your Customer. And certain businesses, mostly financial businesses, need to conduct KYC practices in order to remain compliant. KYC is really all about confirming that the customer is who they say they are. This is done through things like identity verification, social security number, etc, etc. It's also about continuing to do diligence on these customers. Have they recently been added to a watch list? Has there been adverse media? Are the transactions that they're doing on your platform normal? All of these things are things that go into KYC. At the end of the day, KYC's main goal is to prevent mal-use of financial products in the US and around the world. We'll be talking more about these things in the future, so if you work in fintech or if you're interested in fintech, follow along.
