In July 2023 I was diagnosed with breast cancer from a routine mammogram. Invasive ductal carcinoma in my right breast. After extensive testing, I had a lumpectomy in August 2023, followed by 10 rounds of radiation. At my 6 month checkup and scans, they found new cancer in my left breast. It was less than two weeks after my mother died. My life was falling apart. In May I had a double mastectomy, closed most of my business, and tried to get my life under control. I spent a lot of time resting, crying, reflecting, and with family. Four months later, now in Sept, my life is better. Healthy, happy. My family is closer than ever having lived through some major trauma and loss together. There is health and happiness on the other side of trauma and loss when you are surrounded by loving support.
