The best car in the U.S.A.
If you have ever decided to visit the Rolls-Royce
factory, you have decided to buy a Rolls-Royce
or a "Silver Spur." What matters is that you have one.
Because for many wealthy Americans,
the best car in the world is not an American car.
It is a Rolls-Royce. It is a Rolls-Royce.
America a first fall in love with the
Rolls-Royce factory as long ago as 1909 when
America took its first look at luxury cars made by
British people. Then, the Rolls-Royce was the
most luxurious car in the world. Today, the Rolls-Royce
car is still the most luxurious car in the world.
Since then, more Rolls-Royces can have
been sold in the United States than in any other
country. And although it sounds Harry Ford
"mass production," the car that put
American mass-production, he put
the automobile within reach of millions of
people. Rolls-Royce owners have always been
people who have had the best of everything.
They wanted to be absolutely sure they
were getting the genuine article. The best car
in the world.

"Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me."
-F. Scott Fitzgerald
Scott Fitzgerald said it. He said they have al-
ways had ways. They are used to it, and
that makes them different. They know how to pos-
sess. They know how to enjoy.
The man in the picture paid $17,021 for his
car. He bought it because he likes the sound of
his own car. He bought it because he likes the
hills on a country road. Because whatever makes
a speed, it knows how to handle a curve and
matches its own surroundings. This car knows
how to enjoy. Even very comfortably without making
show of itself.
He owns other cars. Occasionally he drives
them. This one he likes out whenever he wants
to indulge his subtle and different. He-differ-
ent. He owns the best car in the world. Do you?
You can see and drive the new Rolls-Royce
and the new Bentley at your authorized
dealers on the opposite page. For further infor-
mation, contact your local authorized dealer or the national Rolls-Royce office (1-800-851-8576). C Rolls-Royce Motors, Inc. 1985.

Why doesn't every successful man
own a Rolls-Royce?
"Attitude of mind," would appear
to be the answer.
Recent survey showed the
Rolls-Royce owner is markedly
selective to begin on others, from
making decisions, unusually critical
and demanding, and above average
in his own discrimination. He will
accept nothing that is not the best,
and this family includes his car.
Incidentally, it is true that
97% of Rolls-Royce owners are without one.
Those well-to-do, by no
means idle. 85% of Rolls-Royces
are regarded as valuable business
assets. And he is probably among
the 75% who normally drive the car
themselves.
If you see something of yourself
here, you look into the car that
fits the bill. The combination of all
these factors. None can approach its
standards of workmanship and
finish. None can be driven so
slowly.
fast and so far with so little
fatigue. And none depreciates as
slowly.
Your Rolls-Royce dealer will gladly
arrange on all that and arrange
you to test-drive the Silver Shadow.
But be warned. One of the strongest
points the survey made was
this:
"A man never achieves a
Rolls-Royce, he is never again
content with a lesser vehicle."

Decisions... Decisions... Decisions...
The Rolls-Royce owner has a mind
critical than most people. He shows
critical than most people. He shows
superior taste and discrimination.
He is a leader to the community and
feels natural that everything about
him should reflect this, including
the car he drives.

Shouldn't your second car be a Rolls-Royce?
Some people, we hear, find it impossible to
conceive of a Rolls-Royce as a second car. The
price puts them off. "Second cars," they say, "should
be sensible, practical. But a Rolls-Royce?"
Exactly. This most lovingly crafted, most
thoroughly invested car in the world is probably
the most sensible investment you can make in motor-
ing pleasure. We have always made the Rolls-
Royce to be, above all else, durable and practical,
and to hold its value for many years. Of 60,000
Rolls-Royces built since 1904, more than half are
still on the road.
If you like to make friends with your car,
your Rolls will respond by serving you faithfully
for a long, long time. And when you're thinking
of a second car for your family, you'd be hard put to
find one more sturdy, more dependable, more
sure on its feet, than your old Rolls-Royce.
On the other hand, if you prefer your Rolls-
Royce one at a time, and if you can endure the
guilt of selling an old and faithful friend, then
selling your old Rolls and buying a new one every
year, a while is a fine- and sensible- alterna-
tive. Recently, a six-year-old Silver Shadow that
cost $19,000 new, brought its owner $16,000 in
a private sale. By comparison, ordinary luxury cars
after ten years rarely bring more than 25% of their
original cost.
Perhaps the nicest thing you can say about a
Rolls-Royce is that it's worth every penny. Let
your Rolls-Royce dealer help you decide how
many you should own. He can even help you
with their size, shape and color. His name is in
the list on the opposite page.
Meanwhile, you may want to prepare your-
self with an advance copy of the Silver Shadow
Owner's Manual. Just send your check for $25
to Mr. Lynn Perkins, Public Relations,
and Advertising Manager, Dept. SG43F,
Box 364, Paramus, N.J. 07652. When
you buy your Rolls, your dealer will refund
the $25. It's only cricket. Rolls-Royce 1973
Dear Sirs: I am writing to tell you
how extremely pleased I am with the
20 h.p. Rolls-Royce, which I have
now owned since last November.
This is the most delightful car I
have ever had the pleasure of hand-
ling, and it is a perfect joy to drive
on long runs.
I sincerely congratulate you on hav-
ing produced this model, which is a
most remarkable proposition from
every point of view.
I am now looking forward to de-
livery of my new 40/50 h.p. "Phantom."
Wishing you continued success,
Believe me, yours very truly
