Hook

Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
It started as just another peaceful walk in the Bahamas. Sun high, breeze warm, waves crashing in the distance. Out of nowhere, this brown dog appeared. He didn't bark. Didn't beg. He just... joined us. Like he belonged. He kept pace, walking by our side like we were his people. What caught our attention was his sense of direction. He knew when to wait at the road. He'd glance both ways like he'd lived through a few close calls. Soon, we noticed he wasn't alone. A second dog—white, with one blind eye—was trailing behind. She was slower, but that brown dog? He kept looking back, waiting for her, guiding her. It was like he was her eyes. They weren't lost. They weren't scared. They were just... following. And when we thought the walk was over, we got into a taxi. Closed the door. Guess who jumped up to the window? That same brown dog, eyes full of something you don't forget. Not begging. Just wanting to be with us. He didn't bark. He didn't whine. He just watched the car pull away. And for a moment, it felt like he wasn't a stray. He was a soul that chose us.
