You're wasting your time with Cursor. But today I'm giving you the three settings you need to change right now to unlock its real power. This is the pro mode they don't tell you about. Because you've got this incredibly powerful tool, but half the time it feels like it's fighting you. Making dumb mistakes, ignoring your instructions, and just feeling weak. And it's not your fault. It's because Cursor's default settings are a trap. First, kill auto mode. Auto is just an excuse for Cursor to save money by giving you weaker models. Go to your model settings and manually select a powerhouse like Claude 4.5 or GPT-5. Never let them choose for you. Second, turn on Max Mode. It sounds expensive, but it's not. All it does is let you use the credits you're already paying for to give the AI a massive context window. Turn this on and leave it on. And third, the most important one, stop using agent mode for everything. Agent mode loves to build, but it's terrible at planning. So start every complex task in Ask mode. Have it generate a step-by-step plan, and only then do you switch to agent mode and ask it to execute that plan. And that's it. Three simple changes and you've taken the safety wheels off. Stop fighting your tools and figure them like a pro and go build something better. See you tomorrow.
