Alright guys, I'm gonna have to do this from my bed. So there's a lot of videos going around at the moment that people are saying, if you block Oracle, uh, if you're in the US, you know, obviously Oracle has bought TikTok, the US version of TikTok, and if you block Oracle, you will start suddenly start to see stuff like the Portland fire stuff, right? Okay, let's get logical for a moment. There is absolutely no way a blocking an account will have an impact on what's going on on your FYP. Your FYP is basically determined by your actions whilst you're engaging on this app. So hear me out, because actually blocking Oracle does have a logical, there is logic rather to blocking Oracle and what's actually happening. And this comes from somebody who has been in digital since digital began, right? So here's what's happening. Um, the videos are going around saying block Oracle and your feed will change. What does TikTok see? TikTok sees that you were served a video that says block Oracle, has whatever hashtags might be in there. It's obviously not just hashtags because the actual content of the video is visible to the algorithm in terms of the language, the words, etcetera. Alright, so the so TikTok knows the video you were just served. Your next action is to go to a certain account on TikTok, i.e. Oracle, and the next action you take is to block the account. And TikTok sees this, obviously. And then because you're basically following the same pattern as everybody else, TikTok knows the next thing you wanna see is Portland content. So it serves you the Portland content because it knows that's what you want, because you are following the pattern of other people before you. And then you engage with that content, and then you might make a video, a video that says, hey everybody, go and block Oracle and you'll get Portland content. So in a weird roundabout way, it kind of works, but not because what people are thinking. It's working because the algorithm is working. So yes, technically, if you block Oracle, you should be getting Portland content. But here's the thing, not everybody is in this boat. So there are people in the US that are getting that content without going through this whole block Oracle business. And the rest of us around the world, I'm seeing the Portland content. So hopefully that explains it. And yeah, if you, ha ha, I can't believe I'm saying this, but yes, if you wanna see the Portland content, maybe the right thing to do is to block Oracle. But it's not what people were kinda thinking. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, let me know what your experience is.
