I made a video that kind of blew up the last couple of days talking about how when women breastfeed, they have this hormone that's released called prolactin. This beautiful hormone makes us act like we're a little bit crazy. What shocked me about this video is how many women had breastfed for years with multiple babies and had no idea that this hormone was even a thing and what it was doing to their bodies. On top of everything we go through as mothers, the pregnancy, the birth, the postpartum, then when it comes to breastfeeding, and this prolactin hormone is released, which basically causes your milk supply. Because it makes us feel all of these emotions, we start to think that we're going crazy. People start to treat us like we're going crazy, and we're not. So in case you didn't know about prolactin, let me break down some of the things that it does to us as women. Low motivation, brain fog. We store fat, we have low energy, we have a lower libido. We get extremely irritable. That postpartum rage. Yeah, it makes you extra sensitive and emotional. We'll cry over nothing. It also makes you worry more and get a little bit anxious over things. Feeling extra stressed. Prolactin. Ridiculously hungry and feel like you can't eat enough. Prolactin. Can't remember the last time you fed or what you had for breakfast. Prolactin. Now, let me just say this because I don't want it to get twisted. I love being able to breastfeed my baby. I think it's amazing. I think it's such a blessing to be able to feed your baby. And the incredible milk that our bodies make just is insane when you really look into it and how it all works. But I just think that it's not talked about enough, what these hormones do to our bodies. Thousands of women out there thinking that they're going crazy, and they're not. So if you are breastfeeding your baby, go mama. I think it's amazing. And the amount of women who I saw commenting who are doing it with twins. Mmm. You need a medal. And if you have somebody in your life, a partner, a family member who treats you like you're crazy, send them this video. And then if they still continue, send them my way. So if you are not feeling like yourself right now and you're feeling these emotions, just know you're not going crazy. It's prolactin. I see you. I feel you. I'm on the journey, too. Just know we'll get through this together. I love you.
