If you know a woman who is breastfeeding right now, know that it is a full time job. Know that we live on two to three hour cycles all day, everyday. Know that we likely have woken up a few times a night. Know that everyday it burns between 400 and 600 calories extra, equivalent to a 7 mile walk. No, please know that it runs havoc on our hormones, which impacts our mind. It's a mental thing, it's a physical thing, it's a deep, beautiful thing to breastfeed. But man, it is work. It is hard work. And I feel for the women who are breastfeeding twins, I feel for the women who are working full time and also breastfeeding. I feel for all women because I feel like it's not talked about enough. So many partners don't understand, so many people's families don't understand how much breastfeeding impacts us mentally, physically, spiritually. It is a full time job and it's so amazing. I feel blessed cause I wasn't sure if I could breastfeed and I feel blessed that I was able to and I still am breastfeeding. But man, it is work. And I feel like so many women just want to feel seen because the things that we feel on the inside that you just cannot describe to other people. So if you are a breastfeeding mama or you know somebody who is breastfeeding, then just love on them, care for them, give them extra support because we're out here doing the best we can, providing everything that we can to our babies. Because the baby comes first. Whatever our body has, the baby gets first. Before we get whatever it is we need. And so, love on the breastfeeding mamas, please.
