I had one of the most memorable nights of my life in San Francisco, here 30 years, so that's saying something.

I had one of the most memorable nights of my life in San Francisco, here 30 years, so that's saying something. There is a blackout that has pretty much plunged half of the city into darkness. And, um, I have power, as you can see, and I've had it all day, so I wasn't really paying attention to what was going on, but pretty much since 2:00, half of the city has not had any power. I was invited to a Christmas party tonight with some friends I haven't seen in a really long time, so I was super excited and headed out at about 7 in an Uber, and we went a few miles away from my house, and suddenly the whole city was dark. And we've got a lot of Waymos in the city, and so, um, the Waymos apparently don't know what to do when they reach a stoplight that isn't working. So at pretty much every stoplight, there was a Waymo that was just stuck, like, blocking a lane or blocking the intersection, and so that was crazy. So the traffic was really piling up, and, um, it's also raining. So we finally, I think it probably took over 30 minutes to go about four miles to our destination. And so we get there, and that entire part of the city is just blacked out, like, no power at all. So our friends, God love them, they went ahead with the party and they had all these battery operated candles and things and it was actually awesome. Uh, they had, this is the most San Francisco thing ever, like, they had this brother and sister from a sushi restaurant that they had been going to for years that was shut down because apparently a billionaire has thrown them out of their space and so now they're looking for a new space. But, um, they were making sushi. They were using the gas stove to make like, chicken skewers and they were frying up chicken, all kinds of stuff. Um, and so the party was actually wonderful and there were tons of people there. It was packed. I had thought, well no one's going to come because it's raining and there's no power, but it was, it was going off. We had a really amazing time and then we got ready to go and, um, suddenly, like, wifi isn't working. And it's, you know, it's four miles across the city, it's raining. We're not gonna really, I mean we could have walked home I guess, we would have done it if we had no other option, but the city is like pitch black and now the wifi isn't working. Uh, we finally got a connection to Uber, called an Uber and they drove us home. And still most of the city, half of the city is pitch black. And, um, we passed a big tow truck that was like a flatbed tow truck that was towing a Waymo. Like they were getting the Waymo up there. So, um, I love Waymos, but they did not do well in this test. Um, and so I wonder what that's going to be like tomorrow for them and what what kind of press they're going to be getting. But, um, yeah, it was crazy. It was wonderful. Um, it was the most San Francisco night I've had in years. This city is wonderful and crazy, and I just absolutely love it. And I'll remember this night for the rest of my life.
