If you missed the photonic stocks that already 5x, this might be your second chance. After names like Lumentum, Ript 800 to 900% in the past year on the back of AI optical domain demand, it's pretty clear that the real bottleneck of AI isn't memory, it's photonics. Right now, most data in data centers moves over copper using electricity, which is fine until you're trying to shove workloads over tiny little pipes. Photonics, you use light through lasers and fibers to transmit that data. It's way faster, less heat intensive, and more power efficient. And we're definitely no longer early on this thesis. But a CEO gave everyone a chance. Yesterday at GTC, Jensen doubled down and said that they're going to use copper for as long as they can before fully moving to this. This led to what I believe is an overreaction and a pullback in big names like AI and COHR. But ultimately, photonics is still the future of AI. This doesn't erase the bottleneck, it just delays it. If you haven't made a move yet, this pullback might be your window.
