if you see videos like this, you've probably thought that sounds really easy and maybe too good to be true. but is it? well i wanted to find out. so for the past 5 months i've been trying to build a successful youtube shorts channel and this is what happened. i had no idea what i was doing but i picked a random niche and just got started. but i quickly learned that the niche i chose isn't really what the youtube shorts audience is looking for. youtube shorts is a bit brainrotted, so tip number 1 is know your audience. i tried a few different ideas and they all failed until i realised why am i trying to reinvent the wheel? let's just see what's already working and mimic it. so tip number 2 is do your research. i found a bunch of channels that were posting these bizarre animal rescue videos which were pulling some insane views. so i made one of those videos with a wacky visual hook and i finally broke the 100k view barrier. but the problem was that video was a complete pain in the ass to make. i wasted so much time getting the AI to generate usable clips. which leads me to tip number 3, don't be afraid to analyse and adapt. i found this video which was just a montage of funny dog clips that got 100 million views in two weeks and i copied the shit out of it. it was easy to make, it was already a proven viral format and it worked because it got me 2 million views. so i did it again and again and if i keep going i have no doubt that this channel will be making some money in the future. i guess that means i've pretty much figured out shorts. however, the amount of money that you can make with shorts is pretty low. you have to be pulling tens of millions of views a month just to make a few thousand dollars from adsense. long form videos on the other hand make much better money, which i think means the next logical step is to try out long form content. so if you want to watch me fail all over again until i figure it out and potentially learn something for yourself along the way, then drop a follow and i'll see you in the next one.
