One of my clients came in and he has to do 10 years of taxes. I need to get C.R.A. authorization from him. Last year, all I had to do was sign a form and get authorization so that I can pull all the slips that he had, T4 slips, T5 slips, whatever C.R.A. had on file. My attack system was able to pull it and then I can produce a tax return. Well, C.R.A. changed the rules this year. Now there's two things that need to happen. The individual has to have C.R.A. set up. They go on and they give an accountant authorization so that we have access to their account to pull their slips. Two, we need a notice of assessment if we can if we do it ourselves. So notice of assessment for last year, we put in numbers and we get a client to sign authorization so that we get access to their C.R.A. But the question is what happens if you haven't filed your taxes in 2024 to get the notice of assessment and you don't have access to C.R.A.? This is what I'm going through with one of my clients. So we have to call C.R.A., get sl get the slips manually done, back date years of returns so that he can get access for the future in order for him to give us access so that we can follow His return. Needless to say, they made it very difficult for people that have back dated or don't have C.R.A. Access and have tax returns that are due in the past. So my recommendation either get caught up with your taxes or get C.R.A. access because it's gonna get even more difficult to get your slips to the tax professional in the future.
