If you use a PlayStation, Sony is trying to take away your games for good. So over the past few years, PlayStation has been doing a lot of things that has upset a lot of their fans and this new feature they're allegedly doing is upsetting even more of them. So PlayStation support has confirmed that a new digital rights management policy for the console is intentional, not a glitch. Starting with any digital games purchased after the March 2026 system update, your PS5 will require an internet connection at least once every 30 days to validate the license. If the console stays offline longer than that, the games simply will not launch until you reconnect. This change does not affect titles already in your library. Setting a console as your primary system also will not bypass the monthly check-in. So PlayStation support, they've confirmed that a new digital rights management policy is going out for all of PS5s and it's going to force you to connect your PlayStation to the internet every 30 days or else you won't be able to access any of your digitally downloaded games. Like in this picture right here, somebody has this new game Don't Starve Together, Console Edition. You can see right here, the valid period ending is 5/14/2026, 20 days left on their games. And this message that people are getting from PlayStation support, they said, thank you for your interest on the 30-day timer that is being applied to all new purchases. Primary console restriction: Setting a console as your primary does not bypass the 30-day requirement. The 30-day is a valid period and is not a sign of an account restriction or anything like that. And the thing that makes this the worst is that now PlayStation is going to fully digital, meaning you can't even put the disc in if you're not going to be able to connect to the internet and still play your game.
