So I've been turning a lot of my brand deals into my own brand trips since 2019. And no, I'm not a huge creator. I'm not even a travel creator either. But I've been to DR, Paris, Mexico, always working with a brand. And while everyone sees the glitz and glam of traveling with a brand, the fits, the content, the destinations, and dreams of going on a brand trip someday, nobody talks about the spreadsheet and the logistics of how to make it happen. So I'm gonna let you in on how I'm able to create my own brand trip without feeling like I need a million followers to get an invite. And it requires a little bit of strategy. And I partnered with Collective to show you how to also do this within IRS guidelines. So let me give you an example of what my last brand trip actually cost me as a business, and I've pulled out the list here on my iPad. Flights: $350. Hotel: $0 (used cc points). Gas: $50. Outfits: $100 (thrifted, rented). Food: $102. Event access: $300. That's about $900 in business expenses on a single trip that's being covered by the brand deal payment. And if you're not tracking every single one of those, you're actually bound to owe more from that brand collaboration during tax time. And that's why I use Collective. They handle my bookkeeping every single month. So every expense from every trip is categorized correctly, reconciled and ready to go. This way I'm not scrambling at the end of the year trying to remember what I spent in Paris as part of my brand deal. Clean books every month means I know my actual margins, not just what the brand paid me, but what I actually kept. Click on the link if you want to check it out or comment the word "trip" and I'll send you all the deets about Collective and let it change how you keep your books in order.
