You won't BELIEVE who is coming after BIG TECH and HOW he's doing it... BUT there's some CONTROVERSY

We have a new hero who's fighting against big tech and it's not at all who you would think. He built an AI workspace that lets you run autonomous AI agents and do a lot more for free, forever. But there's a big controversy. I'm Gigaqian and if you've been following me, you'll be surprised to hear today we're talking about Pewdiepie and his Odysseus project. Odysseus is free, self-hosted, and open source. There are no subscriptions, there's no data mining. It's built as a direct alternative to cloud-based AI subscriptions. And it actually does quite a lot. You have persistent memory, self-evolving skills. You have an email assistant that provides summaries, style-matched draft replies, auto-tagging and spam triage over IMAP/SMTP. You have a deep research feature that does multi-step runs to gather, read, and synthesize sources into reports. You have built-in tools and MCP connectivity. You have customizable chats with multiple models and agents. We'll come back to that. The feature I really like is called the cookbook. It does a lot, but it analyzes your hardware, lets you know what models you can run, and then lets you set them up locally with one click. We're talking hundreds of models to choose from. But I know some people will say, I like GPT-5.5. I like Claude's 4.8. Maybe I don't have the hardware to actually run local models. Don't worry, you can still connect to cloud APIs. Which makes sense because you can run Odysseus on your phone. Which only makes it better because you can do cron jobs. Cron comes from Chronos, the Greek god of time. I know the pronunciation is different, but that's because they shortened it when they created the command for Unix systems in the 70s. Scheduling. See? I told you we'd come back to the agents. The guys on Hacker News call it "vibe coded slop." They say it's just a Python UI on top of tools. And they're right. But they still missed something. This dude's got subscribers. He just introduced self-hosted AI to an audience that has never heard of O-llama, MCPs, or local LLMs. And he's inviting people who do know to contribute.
