RANKING FRUGAL HABITS. Driving a paid off car for 10 plus years. This is S tier for sure, something I always make sure that I try to do. Cooking at home. Cooking at home is A tier, you can save a lot of money cooking at home, but if you enjoy eating out, there's nothing wrong with prioritizing eating out if you want to, but cooking at home is great. Reusing aluminum foil. This is F tier for me, I think this is just over the top. Meal planning the week. Oh, A tier for sure, a great way to make sure that you're on top of what you are doing throughout the week, and honestly, it's better for the family, it's better planning everything out, it's a great thing to do. Refusing to tip. F tier for sure, if you refuse to tip, or you're the type of person who is not willing to tip a server or someone who deserves a tip, then you should not be entering that establishment. Buying generic brands. Buying generic brands is a great thing to do, this is A tier for sure, you can save some good money, and a lot of these brands are manufactured by the name brand. Using a cashback credit card and paying it off. This is a great thing to do, this is B tier. Negotiating bills annually. 100% you need to be doing that, this is S tier, you can save thousands of dollars every single year. Buying quality once. This is A tier, there's a whole group on Reddit called buy it for life or BIFL, and they dive deep into this, it is a really great thing to do, especially if you're focusing on something that you want to last for 30 plus years. Bringing coffee from home. This is B tier, you can do it if you want to, but skipping out on lattes on a daily basis doesn't make as big of a difference as things like asset allocation or your housing, your food, your transportation, those types of things. Washing and reusing ziplock bags. That is absolutely ridiculous, that is F tier. Hoarding free hotel toiletries. That is D tier, you're not Ross from Friends, you don't need to be doing that. Skipping health insurance. That is F tier for sure, you absolutely should always have health insurance, you're putting yourself and your family at risk. Driving 30 minutes for cheaper gas. That is a ridiculous thing, that is F tier as well. If you want to drive across the street because the gas is a little cheaper, that's completely fine, but driving 30 minutes away means that you are probably eating away all that cost no matter what anyway.
