There is £31.1 billion lying in unclaimed, inactive, or lost pension pots, according to new research published ahead of this Sunday's National Pension Tracing Day. The value of lost pension pots in the UK has risen by 60%. 3.3 million are now considered lost, about 1 in 70. Visit gov.uk to use the free pension tracing service. The study by the Department for Work and Pensions and the Pension Institute has UK attention. Now what this means is that you may have paid into a pension in your previous employment and you have forgotten about it, so you haven't claimed it. I'm going to show you how you can look up your old pension pots so that your money is not a part of this unclaimed pension. First thing you want to do is identify your previous employers over the years. And the second thing you want to then do is use this website about gov.uk/find-pension-contact-details. This website has been created by the UK government to search up who your previous pension provider is based on where you have previously worked as long as you have this information. The next thing, once you have found out who the pension provider is, you want to contact them with your details and they should be able to get back to you with your pension pot and you can then transfer the pension pot to another provider or you can keep it with them is up to you.
