Columbia brings BACK 😳 the SAT for 2027-28

It's official. Columbia just announced that they're going back to requiring the SAT starting with the 2027-28 admission cycle. And this is huge news because Columbia was the last holdout in the Ivy League that had stayed with test optional policies that started to be imposed during COVID. But they had originally said they were going to stay test optional forever. They refused to ever go back. And like I predicted at the time, they were required to go back because in fact, there's actually no way to guarantee that the people you're admitting are qualified unless you actually test them, right? Anybody logical knew this from the start, but there were a lot of people, I mean, people getting millions of views who were advocating the opposite. They said, no, the tests tell you nothing. Actually, no, the tests tell you a lot because smart people do well on tests like the SAT, and I hate to break it to you. If you're smart in every other aspect of life except for the times that we test you, well, maybe you're not, okay? And that's what Columbia realized, where they realized that you can't compare two students who went to two different high schools with two different grading systems and just do that based on their own. There's just no way to do that. You have to give them something standard that goes between all the high schools, and that's how you can actually compare students. None of this is rocket science. It's just all common sense. And common sense is breaking out because it works. They can't keep admitting unqualified students to Ivy League schools, having remedial math classes at places like Harvard, and then expect to maintain the reputation of the college. That doesn't work. Employers are not going to be hiring people if they know that the colleges are admitting unqualified students. So kudos to Columbia for pulling their head out of the sand and actually doing the right thing here. This bodes very well for the long-term future of the university.
