The couple mistakes you cannot make as an ethnic minority in the workplace. And I think the biggest one of them all is introducing yourself as a name that's not even pronounced correctly. Because in my first rotation in the workplace, I used to call myself I Fey. And obviously, that's not how you say it. It's I'm Fey. So now that I've moved into my new rotation, the first thing I did when I met this new team is ensuring that I pronounce my name correctly. And I'll be with you, make sure you pronounce your name correctly because your name is powerful, right? It has meaning to it. And secondly, it demands more respect. You don't let people compromise with pronouncing your name how they feel like it. It's how your mother and your father intended it to be. So that's one thing. If I can advise anyone, when you go into the workplace, when you meet a new team, make sure they pronounce your name correctly.
