how i went from entry-level tech sales to senior beauty PR manager (not nepo) 🦋
kindle colors
firstly, this didn't happen overnight. patience! i nurtured my career over 7 years:
1 year @ oracle
4 years @ shopstyle
1 year @ klarna
1.5 years @ amazon
now @ drunk elephant
i was never afraid to get my hands dirty, for ex at amazon when i single handedly packed 200 influencer gift bags
i constantly networked at each job, in the PR industry it's so important. including at my own events like this one!
i taught myself analytics. Data = power. If you can clearly communicate your impact, you can advocate for yourself
i nurtured my creative side offline, like playing with makeup, modeling, crafting, so I could bring fresh ideas to work
i volunteered for beauty clients and projects so the transition from tech to skincare was seamless!

my dream was always to work in beauty and be creative, but I started my career in tech sales at oracle. hated it, moved to a fashion tech company called shopstyle (the shopmy of 2018, iykyk). put in 4 invaluable years there managing influencer campaigns for brands like adidas and Nordstrom beauty. Moved to klarna for a year doing the same but at a higher level, then landed at amazon doing influencer events which was a wild ride haha. learned a ton and became more strategic, leading me to my senior role in beauty now! #careerjourney #careergrowth #beautymarketing #influencermarketing #careertok
