One of the best things I learned how to do for myself in my 20s is go on solo sidequests. It's given me so much confidence and I've met so many cool and interesting people. So I wanted to share a list of some sidequest ideas I have. The first thing is attending public lectures. Most people don't know this, but there are so many universities and even educational organizations that literally host free or super low cost lectures about things like physics, politics, psychology, so many different things. For example, I literally went to Cambridge University and watched a lecture about God and science. So another really cool sidequest is attending an open mic night. I personally love to write, so I went to a poetry one. I know there are ones for singing, slam poetry. You can literally just get on a stage and perform in front of other people. It's such a cool way to grow your confidence, but also meet other like minded creatives. I personally love going to museums and I feel like it's such a shame to go there and not actually get the context of the things you're seeing. Which is why I think booking a guided tour at a museum or an art gallery is such a cool idea. These things always happen in groups, so it's a great way to meet other people, but also actually get off your screen and learn history from an actual source. Another thing I love doing and I've actually mentioned this before, going to the library once a month and doing a research day. I usually go with like a list of topics on my journal and I literally spend like a few hours just researching, watching YouTube documentaries, going through books. It's such a good way to just get off screens and like follow my intellectual playfulness. I'm obsessed with mid century modern furniture and so I think attending vintage flea markets is such a cool idea. I'm literally going to one this week. The concept of a flea market where you can go and get furniture, bowls, small trinkets that other people have owned and put so much love and effort into and especially because furniture before used to look, in my opinion, so much better. I just think the whole experience is just so good. Last but definitely not least, I love the idea of going on a cafe and reading crawl. Sometimes I'll literally make a list of cafes that I wanna try out. I'll block out an entire day, take a book and go and sample different drinks and pastries from all these cafes and challenge myself to finish a book.
