I'm gonna read the entirety of Frankenstein in one sitting/one day and then I'm gonna watch the movie and I'm gonna compare and contrast the two. I expect this to probably take me around four hours to finish the book, but we'll see. Hour 1, 225 pages to go... So it's officially been one hour and I'm on page 51. I just got to the part where Victor has gone off to university and he's now dedicating himself to looking for the elixir of life. I feel like this is gonna be a five star read. Hour 2, 75/225 pages. I'm well into hour two. There are so many good one-liners, quotes about obsession and this idea of sacrificing essentially everything for your goals and I feel like I relate to it so much, which is just something I did not expect when I picked up Frankenstein. Hour 2, 93/225 pages. So I'm officially done with hour two. I've read 93 pages of the book. Frankenstein has officially been created. I think reading that part is probably one of my favourite things I've ever read. I'm so in the zone that I'm just gonna try and push through even though I'm starving. Hour 3, 130/225 pages. I'm officially done with hour three and I am 130 pages in. We finally heard from Frankenstein in this part and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I feel so bad for him. Just the way Mary Shelley's exploring the concept of otherness, just making me feel like humans are so horrible. Hour 4, 150/225 pages. So my food is here. I'm just about to hit 150 pages. If you live in London by the way and you want really good Mexican food, they're on Uber Eats. Honestly, I feel like I'm in heaven guys. A good plate of food and a good book. What?! Hour 4, 150/225 pages. Hour four is done. I'm well into Hour five and I'm on page 170. Frankenstein has convinced his creator Victor to make his female companion. I will say this last part has felt a bit slower. I have my laptop and I'm gonna actually listen to the audiobook as I read. There's an audiobook of Frankenstein on Spotify. Hour 5, 170/225 pages. The narration was sooo good. He had followed me in my travels. He had loitered in forests, locking the door made a solemn vow in my own heart. Hour 6, Final 20 pages!!! lost in darkness. The End!!! Final Thoughts. I've officially finished watching the movie and I'm gonna give it a 3.5 and I'm gonna give it a 3.5 stars to no fault of the movie, but again, when you just read the book, it always pales in comparison. I feel like the book just had this level of eeriness and paranoia and this slow build up of Frankenstein invading Victor's life that I didn't really see in the movie. I also just didn't like how they changed so many of the relationships. The ending was also much more hopeful in the movie. Don't get me wrong, the movie is still good and I would recommend watching it, but of course read the book.
