I'm officially two days out from leaving my corporate tech job of eight years that I loved, and I have not fully decompressed yet. Anytime my phone vibrates, I still have, like, the anxious energy of if it's a Slack or an email or, like, someone needing something from me. Think this is the first time in eight years that I have not had anybody dependent on me for anything. And that is an interesting, lovely feeling that I'm adjusting to. I've also been reflecting a lot on how much my identity was wrapped up in this job. Like, I tied so much of my worth and so much of my value into if I was doing a good job, if people were proud of me, like, how much I worked, how hard I worked. It is. It was such a big part of my life, and I know that I am so much more than that job. But a challenge that I have for myself that I have to figure out over the next weeks, months, the rest of my life is who am I without work and what is my identity without it? And I think it's gonna be challenging. It's gonna be a weird adjustment for the next couple of weeks again. Like, not feeling needed is a weird feeling. Um, but I'm excited.
