If you have a Google account. You need to watch this. Go to https://myactivity.google.com/search-services/settings on your phone or computer. Sign in to your Google account if needed. Turn off the Save Media toggle. This hasn’t been rolled out for everyone yet, so if you can’t see it, be sure to save this post and set a reminder on your calendar to come back in a few weeks to check again. Follow @cybersecuritygirl for more online privacy tips. I'm Kaylen. I'm a cybersecurity data protection expert and I'll help you protect yourself against Google. Let's go. Think about what you've actually used Lens for. A weird rash, a pill, a document, something personal, a receipt. That's what's going in by default. And Google says that their data is stripped of once it's used for training, but they don't say when and the collection is already happening. So here's how on your phone or computer go to myactivity.google.com/activitycontrols. If you see a section called “SEARCH SERVICES HISTORY” tap it and turn off “SEARCH SERVICES HISTORY”. If that section isn't there yet, which is most people because it's gradually rolling out, go to “WEB AND APP ACTIVITY” and uncheck “VOICE AUDIO AND VISUAL SEARCH HISTORY” as a stopgate. Then set a reminder to go back in 2 or 3 weeks to confirm the search services history toggle is off once it appears on your account. Be sure to save this so you know what to do again. Send this to someone who uses Google Lens or voice search and follow Cybersecurity Girl for more simple cyber and privacy tips. Stay safe out there.
