The biggest mistake I made after downloading Claude was not spending 30 minutes setting it up. So I wrote a paragraph of context into every chat instead, and the answers still came out generic. The 30 minute fix, the 4 things: 1. Build one master folder Claude reads before every task, so it works from your context, not a blank slate. 2. Add three files: what you do day to day, your voice and the phrases you hate, and your rules. 3. Set your global instructions once so Claude asks before executing, shows a plan first, and never deletes without approval. 4. Drop the bad habits: writing a long prompt every task, and expecting Claude to know you with no files. Do this once and Claude stops sounding like everyone else’s and starts sounding like you.
